Guidelines for presentations General: • Be well prepared. • Talk loud and clear. • Body language: appear active. • Use appropriate language for the audience's skill level. • Be enthusiastic, but professional (they will look up to you). • Good eye contact is important. • Make the presentation appealing to the eye. • Each presentation has the same structure: head-body-tail 1. Head: • Introduce yourself and your group in the beginning. • Introduce the content of your presentation 2. Body: • Encourage questions; help if your audience is struggling, but move on quickly so they do not get embarrassed. • Structure your presentation. • Repeat important points. • Not too much info on 1 slide. • Be sure that everybody can read it. 3. Tail: • Close your presentation with a summary in which you mention your main problem areas • Or: mention the next important steps for your project (based on previous points) • “Are there any questions?” • Thank the audience Common pitfalls: • Negative body language. • Not well prepared. • No contact with audience. Limit your presentation.
