Lewis: Let's have a word about delivery under FOB terms, shall we?
Xiong: I have not the slightest objection.
Lewis: As buyers, you are to charter a ship or book the shipping space.
Xiong: That's understood.
Lewis: Then you should advise us by cable name of ship and its sailing date.
Xiong: That's also understood. Will you make clear to me your responsibility?
Lewis: We'll see the goods pass over the ship's rail and our responsibility ends there.
Xiong: You should bear all the costs of transportation of the goods, shouldn't you?
Lewis: Yes, we bear all the charges up to the time the goods are on the hooks.
Xiong: What do you mean by all the charges?
Lewis: They are Customs duties, as well as any service charges on exporting goods.
Xiong: As I understand it, you are also to inform us of the contract number, name of commodity, quantity, loading port and the estimated date when the goods will reach the port of loading. Am I right?
Lewis: Yes. We'll cable you 30 days before the month of shipment.
Xiong: Excellent. So far we have a mutual under standing on everything concerning our respective responsibilities. I hope we'll both discharge then as well.
