Many thanks for your e-mail of yesterday's date.
It appears that you are not award of the customs duty imposed on :-
1) Products imported into Syria from overseas foreign countries
2) Products imported into Syria from Arab countries (Arab Trading Agreement)
Customs duty imposed on (1) above is very high whereas products from (2) above sibject to very very little customs duty and therefore silicone sealants filled in cartridges in Arab Emirate, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc and exported to Syria subject to reduced cutoms duty and thus compete identical products from foreign countries.
From the above, you will note that it is imperative that we import silicone sealants in drums and conduct local filling at our end to market and compete those being imported from Arab countries.
To tie up our business with your company as regards silicone sealants, we therefore request you to refer to our e-mail of 8th instant and furnish us with our need outlined in said e-mail.
