GB 6675 Safety of Toys is a series of mandatory standards on toys in China, which means any toy intended to be manufactured, imported or distributed in China shall conform to the standard, otherwise the circulation of products will not be allowed. The standard provides for requirements of mechanical and physical properties, flammability and other chemical properties for toys on the China market. GB 19865 Electric Toys—Safety is identical to EN 62115 (EU). Generally, the mature regulations in US and EU countries provide a reference for China during standard establishment based on the status quo on its market. Late start as it has, China is devoted to being in line with international standards in pursuit of better quality and safer products. Labelling: GB 5296.5 Instructions for Use of Products of Consumer Interest—Part 5: Toys provides for general principles, label contents, formats, placing positions, fonts or text sizes for toys. The part is applicable for instructions of toys. Tip: GB 6675-2014 is the latest version, and parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13 & 14 thereof have applied since 1 January 2016. Besides, it allows a transitional period of 18 months for products manufactured, imported or distributed as per GB 6675-2003 National Safety Technical Code for Toys.
